After-School Chocolate Program | Recurring Classes for Local Kids

After-School Chocolate Program | Recurring Classes for Local Kids

A twice-weekly chocolate program for local children in Brasilito and the surrounding community.

The Blue Valley After-School Chocolate Program gives local kids regular, hands-on time in a real bean-to-bar factory. Each session builds on the last: children explore how cacao grows, how it is harvested and fermented, and how it becomes the chocolate they know. Over time they develop genuine craft skills, from tempering to molding to understanding flavor.

This is not a one-off tourist activity. It is a recurring program built for the community, offered at a discounted block rate for local families.

What the program covers (rotating curriculum):

- The journey from cacao pod to finished chocolate

- Fermentation, drying, and what makes fine-flavor cacao special

- Hands-on tempering, molding, and decoration

- The story of the Maleku people and cacao's role in Costa Rican culture

- Tasting, flavor vocabulary, and sensory skills
